LOCAL HISTORY
Justin Depot

Correction and Update: History of the Justin Depot

We'd like to correct the link provided in our last newsletter. For information on some of the remaining portions of the depot, please visit: Texas Compound.

About the Justin Depot

The Justin Depot, constructed in 1912, served the community until its demolition in 1986. Originally, the depot was painted in an old mineral red color with green trim, reminiscent of "The Feed Station" reconstruction. In the 1920s, the corporate paint scheme changed to yellow with green trim. By the 1950s, the trim was also painted yellow, unifying the color scheme.

The depot's siding was made of cypress wood, which still exists today at the location mentioned. Besides the main building, the site once featured several other structures, including three water closets, stock pens, and a well—though these are no longer present.

We have pictures of the depot's interior from 1985, just before it was demolished, along with additional documentation and blueprints available on our TheJustinJournalNews Instagram page.
