Exciting developments are coming to our small town! The Justin Nail Lounge is set to open around September 10, 2024, offering a new spot for relaxation and self-care. Nearby, the new coffee shop Kahwa is preparing to welcome customers with a drive-thru option, aiming for an opening date around October 15, 2024, but with hopes of opening even sooner.
In the neighboring towns of Argyle and Northlake, new businesses are also making waves. A Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open on August 30, 2024, and the recently opened Branded Bowl is already attracting attention. The Touring Chocolatier will be opening a second location in Flower Mound with a classroom on site while continuing their retail location in Northlake.
These new additions are sure to bring a fresh energy to the area. Do you have any local favorites you’re hoping will be next on the list?

LOCAL HISTORY
Justin Legacies~ Dr. Joseph Allen
Dr. Joseph H. Allen’s life and career are remarkable, reflecting a deep commitment to his community and an impressive adaptability to changing times. Starting his medical practice at just 24 years old in 1901, he truly embodied the spirit of dedication and perseverance. Riding his horse to visit patients, and later using an automobile with the challenges of muddy roads, shows his unwavering determination to provide care wherever it was needed.
His efforts during the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918, traveling to nearly every house in the county, are particularly noteworthy and illustrate his extraordinary commitment to his patients during a time of great crisis. The fact that he continued to serve his community for over five decades, delivering more than 3,000 babies and remaining one of the longest-practicing physicians in Denton County, is a testament to his dedication and skill.
The tribute in 2008, adding him to the mural at Outlaw Burgers and BBQ (111 W. 4th St. Justin), is a fitting recognition of his lifelong service and impact on the community. It’s clear that Dr. Allen’s legacy is cherished and celebrated by those who remember his contributions.
