THE DIGEST

On October 25, 2024, Habitat for Humanity Denton celebrated a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of its 109th home, honoring The Frazier Family. This momentous event took place in Justin, marking a pivotal step towards creating new opportunities for home ownership in our community.

The Rotary Club of Champions proudly serves as the official house sponsor, having dedicated over three years to fundraising efforts aimed at making this dream a reality for the Frazier family.

In addition to the Rotary Club, several generous sponsors have joined the effort, including the Hulcher Family, Masco, Adventure Car Wash, Ruth's Room, and Tom & Jan Knox, among others. Together, they are helping to build not just a house, but a foundation for hope and stability.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved! Once the build stages are announced, there will be additional ways for you to lend a hand and make a difference. Keep an eye out for upcoming volunteer opportunities

LOCAL HISTORY
October Story of History: The Aurora, Texas UFO Incident

In our last October story for the year we uncover a tale that’s truly out of this world, set in the now-forgotten town of Aurora, Texas, just 16 miles west of Justin. On April 17, 1897, a mysterious cigar-shaped airship crashed onto the farm of S.E. Haydon, devastating his windmill and sparking local intrigue.

Witnesses reported that the pilot, described as “not of this world,” was found among the wreckage. The being, small and humanoid, sadly perished in the crash. The townspeople gave it a proper burial in an unmarked grave, reflecting both reverence and disbelief about their extraterrestrial visitor.

As years went by, Aurora faded from maps, but the legend of the UFO incident endured, captivating the imaginations of historians and UFO enthusiasts alike. Today, the whispers of that fateful day remind us that the universe is vast, and we may not be alone after all.

As Halloween approaches, let this eerie chapter in Aurora’s history inspire wonder about the mysteries that lie beyond our world. More information can be found at RoadsideAmerica.
