Peterson Park: Honoring Local History and Legacy in Timberbrook
The new park in Timberbrook will be named Peterson Park, honoring the Peterson family. Omas E. Wayne Peterson, a local property owner and community member who resides in "The Pyramid House" in Old Town, shared his familyâs history during the city council meeting. The park site was once owned by his relatives, Walter Earnes Peterson and Rudolph Henderson Peterson, who had no heirs. The property was farmed until the Timberbrook project ended that era. To hear Omasâ speech, tune in at approximately 1:03 of the recorded meeting: City Council Meeting Video.

LOCAL HISTORY
Honoring the Peterson Family: The Story Behind Justin's New Park Coming Soon to the Timberbrook Area
This week, it was announced that the new park in Justin will be named in honor of the Peterson family. The Petersons have deep roots in the area, with part of the family immigrating from Sweden to America in 1867, followed by the rest in 1869. They settled in Denton County, where Andrew Peterson helped support the construction of the train tracks from Fort Worth to St. Louis, eventually settling in Elizabethtown.
August Peterson, along with his wife Christina and daughters Alvena and Mary, settled in Justin. Meanwhile, Fred Peterson, known as the "Horse King of North Texas," owned 1,400 acres east of the railroad, where he raised 350 horses, five breeding stallions, and three jacks.
The Peterson family played an important role in the history of Justin and Denton County, including the land where the new park will be located.
