LOCAL HISTORY
The Land of the Gaston House
The property as listed on the deed is located at "12 miles and 75 degrees west of the City of Denton and a 3/4 mile southwest from the town of Justin ... beginning at a rock... to a rock", has become a historical sight on the edge of town. What you might know as The Gaston House has been standing since approximately 1907.
The land where the house sits was originally owned by the Reynolds family and then in 1903 the Gillespie family. The Gastons purchased the property in 1907 for a whopping $17,000. In 1915 the Gaston family sold the property to the Harrington family and relocated to South Texas. However, they returned to the Harmonson’s property after two short years. They eventually returned to the Harrington farm where they stayed up until the Gaston patriarch passed away in 1937.
The Harrington family owned the property until 1949 when it was sold to the Robinson family who then sold the property to the current day owners in 2021.
