With spring officially here and the kids home from school for a couple of days this week, it’s the perfect time to dive into that spring cleaning! In addition to Justin Clean-Up Event, you can also donate gently used items:

  • Thrifted It Resale takes donations of almost everything—just be sure to leave out large furniture.

  • NEF Resource Store & Library takes donations of gently used or new books especially nonfiction Science and new school supplies.

LOCAL HISTORY
Throwback to the Glory Days: Justin Tigers and the 1915 Championship

As we gear up for the excitement of opening day this week, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the proud baseball history of Justin. In the early days of our town, baseball was more than just a game — it was a community event. On game days, the whole town would come together, shutting down businesses to watch the young men of Justin take the field. These local teams would often face off against rivals from nearby towns like Lewisville and Alvord, making each match up a thrilling, can’t-miss event.

But the pinnacle of Justin baseball history came in 1915, a year that still holds a special place in the hearts of locals. That season, the Justin Tigers went on to win the prestigious Denton Championship with an incredible record — only one loss throughout the entire season! It was a feat of skill, teamwork, and determination that made the town of Justin incredibly proud.

The standout members of that championship team included Chick Harris, Zeri Wood, Shelby Powers, Hugh Wilson, Jack Hall, Joe Fincher, Arthur Ferrell, Herbert White, and Arthur Seely. These athletes made history, and their legacy lives on in the spirit of baseball that continues to thrive in Justin today.

As we celebrate the start of another baseball season, we honor the achievements of the 1915 Justin Tigers — a reminder of how far we’ve come and the passion that still runs deep in our community.
