LOCAL HISTORY
Justinās Annual Fun Day: A Tradition of Fun, Food, and Community Spirit!
Get ready for the bash of the year! This Saturday, our town's annual summertime celebration is hitting Community Park, and itās going to be a blast! Weāre talking about a tradition thatās been rocking since 1986, originally put together by the Chamber of Commerce and the hardworking folks over at the Justin Volunteer Fire Department. Back in the day, it was called "Justin Country Fun Day," and itās still delivering the fun with classic events like Little Miss and Mister Justin, armadillo races (yep, you read that right), a petting zoo, food trucks, and so much more.
Over the years, the event has evolvedāsometimes itās been a wild ride. There was even a 6-year hiatus between 2016 and 2022 when the city decided to take a break from the festivities. Sadly, some of the old favorites, like goat roping, chicken roping, calf roping, volleyball and basketball tournaments, mule jumping, and street dancing competitions have taken a backseat. (Who knew mule jumping would be so hard to keep going?)
But hey, while things have changed, the heart of the event remains the same. It's all about bringing the community together to celebrate everything that makes Justin so special. So grab your sunscreen, your best festival spirit, and come enjoy the fun! You wonāt want to miss it.
